Meeting Minutes

 

The meeting was called to order at 8:30am

 

Minutes from the December CITPC meeting were not available for review.

 

No Report from the Residential/Medical/Assistive tech Committee

 

Employment/Transportation Committee informally reported on the status of entrance into Developmental training in the State has been slowed at the Central Office level. It was reported that CISA has been invited both in December and February to report on the status of DT applications for students nearing graduation. CISA will be invited again to present at our April 12th meeting. Members report that CISA is currently telling special education staff that referrals of students for DT services following graduation will not be forwarded to Central Office until graduation is achieved.

 

Post Secondary Education Committee– no report

 

Leisure/Recreation Committee – no report

 

Marketing Committee– no report

 

Ad Hoc Workplace Skills Expo Committee provided an update on the March 15th Workplace Skills Expo which will be held from 9:30am to 1:45pm at ICC Main Campus for 100 students from Peoria School District #150, and Limestone and East Peoria School Districts. The program is a day long series of workshops to assist high school juniors and seniors in preparing for the workforce. Topics will include workplace ethics, table etiquette, goal setting, application processes, career & skill Exploration, problem solving, teamwork and handling change. Lunch will be provided. A $1,000.00 grant will cover most costs. It is anticipated that an additional $400 may be needed. Volunteers and speakers have been secured for the Expo

 

Old Business – None to report

 

New Business – CWTC reported that they have made application to HOIUW for a grant to provide coop work opportunities at CWTC for students not yet ready for community job coop experiences due to behavioral, emotional, skill, and developmental issues beginning in the Junior year. Past program requirements restricted participation to the senior year only.

 

Announcements 

 

The CIBLN will hold a seminar on disability disclosure on Wednesday, February 15th at the Par-A-Dice Hotel.

 

The February 8th CITPC Meeting adjourned at 9:30am.
